Drone Surveying in Cumbria, Terrain Mapping for Rural & Environmental Projects

Drone Surveying in Cumbria – Precision Mapping for Remote & Rural Land

Cumbria’s rugged terrain, dispersed settlements, and protected landscapes from the Lake District National Park to the Eden Valley make traditional surveying slow, costly, and often hazardous. Our RTK drone surveying service offers a safer, faster, and highly accurate alternative, delivering survey-grade aerial data to landowners, planners, conservationists, and infrastructure teams across Cumbria.

We’ve mapped remote fells, large estates, moorland grazing, and woodland restoration projects all without disturbing the landscape or requiring ground access. Whether you’re preparing a planning application in Penrith or managing upland catchment areas near Windermere, we bring the tools and accuracy to support your decision-making.

Built for Cumbria’s Wild Terrain & Remote Challenges

Cumbria’s land management issues often involve terrain variability, access restrictions, and seasonal drainage problems. RTK drone surveys overcome these by capturing centimetre-accurate data across large areas in just hours without needing track access or manual surveying teams.

We generate detailed orthomosaics, digital surface models, slope maps, and vegetation indices that feed directly into farm plans, rural grant submissions, land design, and infrastructure routing. Repeat flights make it easy to monitor erosion, catchment response, or project performance over time. We work across the entire county from rural Allerdale to the fringes of Barrow.

Case Study: Event Field Survey

high-resolution aerial imagery and generating a full digital surface model. The output included precise contours, 3D terrain mapping, and orthomosaic data

We were commissioned to survey a 10-acre event field in Runcorn, which is used for public gatherings, temporary infrastructure, and environmental outreach. The client needed a detailed understanding of the site’s topography to plan safer access routes, identify flood-prone areas, and manage surface water runoff during large events.

Our RTK-enabled drone completed the survey in under two hours, capturing high-resolution aerial imagery and generating a full digital surface model. The output included precise contours, 3D terrain mapping, and orthomosaic data. The client used our data to reconfigure their site layout and access plan thus improving usability and minimising environmental impact ahead of the next season.
